EAM Announces Replacement of Select Vests
MIAMI, FL USA –
Due to product advancement and client demand, EAM will discontinue a few older/unpopular vest models in order to streamline the product line and offer a more cohesive variety of vests with no redundancies. This change will result in the elimination of 2 vest lines – The KSD35L8 and all of its variants and the GA12 in its entirety; in addition there will be a partial discontinuation of the KSE35L8 and the Infant (IN-V20L8).
The following vests and their variations will be replaced as follows by the existing ones:
KSD-35L8 – P0723-XXX to be replaced by existing EAM’s XF-35 model
KSD-35-X – P0723-X-XXX to be replaced by existing EAM’s XF-35 model
KSE-35L8 – P0723E105P to be replaced by existing EAM’s XF-35 model

Jetstar and EAM RFID Solutions deploy first RFID-enabled aircraft

Jetstar Airways is employing state-of-the-art technology to save time and maintenance costs with the launch of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to audit safety equipment onboard its aircraft.
Jetstar Australia and New Zealand Head of Engineering David Lau said the implementation of EAM RFID Solutions’ software allowed the airline to apply extra rigor to its existing onboard safety equipment management program.
“We have a range of onboard safety equipment that must be regularly checked and tested by our engineers and our previous manual inspections could take up to 10 man-hours,” Mr Lau said.
“With RFID technology the inspections can now take fewer than five minutes to complete, significantly improving maintenance efficiencies for us."
“We’re now using RFID to track and trace life vests as well as other safety equipment items that need to be replaced from time to time such as life rafts, oxygen generators, portable breathing equipment, fire extinguishers and oxygen bottles."
“The use of RFID for the inspection of cabin equipment expiry dates significantly reduces regulatory non-compliance risk and will also reduce on-aircraft maintenance activity required.”
Following a strong collaborative effort between Jetstar Engineering and EAM’s RFID Solutions team over several months, RFID-enabled safety equipment on the airline’s first Boeing 787 and Airbus A320 was successfully deployed at Jetstar Australia maintenance facilities in both Melbourne (Victoria) and Newcastle (New South Wales) in late 2014.
Director of Operations and Engineering at EAM Worldwide Eloy Leal said it was critical to first understand Jetstar’s processes in order to deliver the right technology solution.
“Using RFID in this way is a testament to Jetstar’s forward thinking and commitment to technological innovation in order to strengthen aircraft maintenance management,” Mr Leal said.

EAM Universal Vest (AIC-35) Now FAA Approved
MIAMI, FL USA – The EAM Universal Vest (AIC-35) is now FAA TSO-C13f approved. The Universal Vest now gives clients the ability to streamline their needs, meeting the passenger requirement for adults, children and infants with a single vest type. The life vest has been outfitted with an additional buckle, adjusting cord and adjusting slits to enable the vest’s transition into a life preserver, making it suitable for infant use. An infant is placed into the preserver by passing the necessary strap through the infant’s legs, around the back and over the left shoulder. The buckle secures the infant and the adjusting cord is a secondary means of security.

EAM Worldwide Exhibits First Off-Wing Slide Prototype at AIX 2014
MIAMI, FL USA – EAM Worldwide, also known as Eastern Aero Marine, manufacturer of life vests, life rafts and survival kits will display its latest slide prototype; the EAM Off-Wing (OW-320F), at the Aircraft Interior’s Expo 2014 in Hamburg, Germany. The Off-Wing slide is the latest addition to the EAM product portfolio. EAM debuted its Escape Slide (ES-320F) at AIX 2013, announcing its entrance into the evacuation slide market. The EAM OW-320F and the EAM ES-320F, fit the specifications of the A320 aircraft family and are designed and tested to meet FAA TSO-C69c.
The EAM OW-320F offers new generation high & mid intensity white LED lights for greater visibility during evacuation. It is assembled with heat seal technology to ensure reliability in even the most extreme conditions.
“Our Off-Wing prototype is the next milestone in our progress as we work to complete the entire ship set offering by YE 2015,” stated Eloy Leal, Director of Operations & Engineering.
